Specimen Requirements

Specimen must be tested within 20 minutes of draw.

Submit only 1 of the following specimens: 

Container/Tube: Green-top (lithium heparin) tube

Specimen: 0.5 mL of lithium heparin plasma

Transport Temperature: Wet ice

Collection Instructions: Fill tube completely, and immediately centrifuge specimen after draw. Forward promptly and run within 30 minutes of centrifugation. If that's not possible, sample needs to be separated and stored at 2-8 and sampled within 2 hours of collection.

Note: Test not available for outreach patient testing due to specimen testing limitations. Patient should be scheduled at the Aspen Valley Hospital Laboratory for testing.
