Specimen Requirements

Specimen must arrive within 24 hours of collection if stored at room temperature.  Specimen is stable for up to 5 days at refrigerated temperature.

 

5 mL of fresh stool in a screw-capped, plastic container, no preservative. (Stool preserved in Cary-Blair, stool concentrated, or stool collected in formalin, sodium acetate-acetic acid-formalin (SAF) fixative or polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) fixative is not acceptable.)
