Physician Office Specimen Requirements

1 mL (minimum volume:  0.2 mL) of body fluid in a green-top (lithium heparin) tube(s). Plain, red-top tube is also acceptable. (Lavender-top [EDTA] tube or light blue-top [sodium citrate] tube is not acceptable.) Forward promptly at ambient temperature. If there is a delay in transport of >10 hours, send specimen refrigerated.
Note:  Indicate specimen source on specimen container and request form.
