Specimen Requirements
Serum
Container/Tube: Gold-top serum gel tubes
Specimen: Two (2) Gold-top serum gel tubes. Serum from plain Red-top tube is UNACCEPTABLE.
Transport Temperature: Ambient; if there is a delay in transport of >5 hours, send specimen FROZEN.
Collection Instructions: Allow specimen to clot for approximately 10 minutes and spin down. Send both tubes to the laboratory.

Per AVH policy, all "Reactive" Hepatitis Bs Antigen results will be
sent to Mayo
Laboratories for confirmation. Until confirmatory testing has
been completed,
the AVH "HepBsAg" results should be interpreted as
"PRELIMINARY POSITIVE".
MAYO confirmatory results will be available 2-4 days after the AVH results are
reported.
